Floraic — Privacy Policy

Floraic ("Floraic", "we", "us") is a mobile app that helps you identify houseplants from a photo, check on their health, and keep track of their care. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.

Floraic is provided by Dor Michaeli, an individual developer based in Israel. For privacy questions or data-deletion requests, you can reach us at [email protected].

The short version

• You can use Floraic without giving us your name or email. Floraic uses anonymous accounts.
• When you identify a plant or ask for a health check, your photo is sent to third-party plant identification and AI providers to suggest possible matches, possible issues, and care suggestions.
• Your plants, photos, notes, care history, and watering logs are stored with our backend provider (currently Supabase).
• Floraic+ subscriptions are billed through Google Play; subscription state is managed by RevenueCat. We never receive or store your full payment-card details.
• We do not show ads, and analytics is disabled in the app — no analytics data is collected. We do not sell your data.

Who this policy covers

This policy covers the Floraic mobile app distributed through Google Play. It does not cover Google's own handling of data — that is governed by Google's policies.

Accounts — anonymous by default

Floraic has no email or social login. When you first open the app, it automatically creates an anonymous account for you through our backend provider, Supabase. This account is identified only by a random identifier. It is not linked to your name, email address, or phone number, because the app does not collect those.

Google Play reviewer access

Before Floraic can be published or updated, Google Play's review team has to be able to check the app's subscription features. So that they never have to make a purchase, the subscription screen offers a Reviewer access option, where a reviewer enters a Reviewer ID and an Access Code that we supply to Google privately through the Play Console. This option exists for app review. It is not a login, and there is no account to create.

The ID and code are checked on our backend only to confirm that whoever entered them is authorised. We do not store them. Neither the Reviewer ID nor the Access Code is written to our database, our usage records, or our logs — they are used for the check and then discarded.

When the check succeeds, Floraic attaches a temporary reviewer pass to the anonymous account the app already created on that device. No new account is created and no new identifier is issued, and no name, email address, or payment method is involved at any point. The pass itself records only that account's random identifier, when it was granted, when it expires, and a short label telling us which set of reviewer credentials it came from.

While a reviewer pass is active, use of the paid features is recorded the same way the app records any other activity — the type of action and basic technical details, never your photos or note text. We keep those records so the app works correctly, so we can protect the service from misuse, and so we can keep track of what we owe the plant identification providers we pay for each request.

A reviewer pass expires automatically after a limited period, and we can withdraw it at any time. It unlocks app features only: it is never a paid subscription, and it creates no purchase or billing record.

What information Floraic handles

Information you create in the app:

• Plant photos you take to identify a plant, to check its health, or to use as a plant's picture.
• Plant details you type — nicknames, location hints (such as "south window"), and free-text care notes.
• Care activity — watering, fertilizing, pruning, repotting, and inspection entries, including any optional notes and the dates you record.
• Care schedules — for example, how often you want to water a plant.
• Questions you ask a plant — if you use "ask your plant", the question you type is saved with that plant, together with the answer, so the conversation is still there when you come back.

Information the app generates:

• Identification results — the possible plant species, confidence scores, and technical details about which provider produced them.
• Health-check results — a calm read of possible plant issues, an optional problem name, and general care suggestions.
• Usage counters — simple counts of identifications and health checks, used to apply reasonable fair-use limits. These are counters, not analytics.
• An activity log — a record of actions taken in the app, such as "a plant was identified" or "care was logged." This log stores only the type of action and basic technical details. It does not store your photos, nicknames, or note text.

Information our providers handle to run the service:

• To operate the app, our backend provider (Supabase) processes basic technical information that comes with any internet request, such as your device's IP address. This is standard for running an online service.

Information Floraic does not collect:

• Your name or email address — Floraic has no login.
• Your precise location or GPS data.
• Your contacts, microphone input, or health data.
• Advertising identifiers.
• Analytics or usage-tracking data — analytics is disabled in Floraic, so no analytics data is collected or sent. If we ever enable analytics or crash reporting, we will disclose it here first.
• Crash-reporting data — Floraic does not include crash-reporting software.
• Your full payment-card details — payments are processed by Google Play; we never receive or store card numbers.

Purchases and subscriptions

Floraic's features require a Floraic+ subscription (monthly or annual), purchased through Google Play Billing. Localized prices are shown by Google Play before you buy.

• Google Play processes the payment itself. Floraic never receives or stores your full payment-card details.
• RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, processes your subscription state on our behalf so the app knows whether Floraic+ is active. The information involved is limited to billing metadata: which product you purchased (monthly or annual), purchase and renewal status (for example active, in trial, cancelled, or expired), entitlement status, store transaction and order identifiers, and your app account's random identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, photos, or plant data from us.
• We keep subscription records for as long as they are needed to provide your access and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Floraic can remind you when a plant is due for water. These reminders are scheduled and shown on your device. No reminder content, and no notification "push token," is sent to our servers or to any third party. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

How plant photos are used

When you use the camera to identify a plant or check its health, the app first resizes and re-saves the photo. This re-saving step does not keep the original photo's embedded metadata, such as GPS location or camera information.

The resized photo is then used in these ways:

1. Identification and health. The photo is sent through our backend to third-party plant identification and AI providers, which may include Plant.id by Kindwise and similar services. They analyze the photo to suggest possible matches, possible issues, and care suggestions. Only the photo is sent — not your name, location, notes, or other plants — unless it is needed for a specific feature. See our How We Use AI page for details.
2. Your plant's picture. If you save the plant, the photo is also stored in a private storage area on our backend (Supabase) and shown as that plant's picture inside the app. Photos in this private storage are not publicly accessible.

Using AI identification and health checks is optional — you can also add a plant by simply typing its name, with no photo.

Where your information is stored

Your plant profiles, photos, notes, care history, watering logs, and identification and health-check results are stored by our backend provider, currently Supabase, which provides our database, file storage, and account system.

Third parties

Floraic relies on a small number of service providers to function. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

• Supabase — provides our database, file storage, and anonymous account system. Your in-app data is stored with Supabase.
• Plant identification and AI providers (which may include Plant.id by Kindwise and similar services) — analyze the plant photos you submit for identification, health, and care suggestions. They receive only what that request needs — the photo for an identification or health check, or your typed question and the plant's name for an answer. They never receive your account identifier.
• Google Play — distributes the app and processes subscription payments through Google Play Billing. Google's handling of installation and payment data is governed by Google's own policies.
• RevenueCat — manages Floraic+ subscription state (see "Purchases and subscriptions" above). RevenueCat receives billing metadata and your app account's random identifier, never your photos or plant data.
• Email (Google / Gmail) — messages sent to our contact address are handled by Google as our email provider.

How long we keep information

Your in-app information is kept while it exists in your account — for example, while a plant or a care entry remains in the app. If you delete a plant, its associated data, including its stored photo and its health-check history, is removed. Subscription records are kept as long as needed for your access and for legal and accounting obligations.

Because Floraic uses anonymous accounts, if you uninstall the app you will lose access to your anonymous account, but information already stored on the backend may remain until it is deleted (see "Your choices" below).

Your choices

• Identification and health checks are optional. You can add and manage plants without using them.
• Deleting a plant. Deleting a plant in the app removes its data, including its stored photo and its health-check history.
• Deleting your data. Floraic does not yet have an in-app "delete my account" feature. To request deletion of the data associated with your use of the app, use Settings → Get in touch → Request data deletion in the app — it prepares an email to [email protected] that includes your anonymous Account ID (also shown on that screen), which is what we need to find and delete your data. If you can no longer open the app, email us with any details that could help us identify your data. We will act on valid requests within a reasonable time.
• Managing your subscription. Floraic+ is managed and cancelled through Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions), not inside the app.

Children

Floraic is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should use Floraic only with the permission of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information — for example, plant photos are kept in a private storage area rather than a public one, access to your data is restricted to your own account, and connections to our backend use encryption in transit. However, no app or online service can be completely secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will always be protected against unauthorized access.

International use

Floraic is provided from Israel and may be used in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. If you use Floraic, your information may be processed in Israel, the United States, the European Union, or other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Floraic evolves. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. We will note significant changes in the app where practical.
